Indie-pop favourites The Crookes play The Masque this April

NME darlings The Crookes bring their nostalgic pop to The Masque on 14th April.

The Crookes are four young hopefuls who found each other, bleary eyed and dancing alone, at Sheffield's legendary Fuzz Club. United initially by a mutual love of The Violent Femmes song 'Blister in the Sun', they formed the band there and then.

In 2010 The Crookes recorded sessions for Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq on Radio 1, as well as playing over 150 live shows home and in Europe.

The Crookes have released two sold out singles to date, A Collier's Wife (Too Pure Singles Club) and Bloodshot Days (Heist or Hit).

Their Dreams of Another Day E.P. was released on the legendary Fierce Panda label in October 2010 and it was recently announced that Chasing After Ghosts, the debut album by The Crookes, will be released on March 21st 2011 in the UK and Europe.

The Crookes also feature on the Busking For Japan appeal where money is raised by getting bands, big and small, to busk for charities working in Japan and film the results. People can give on the day or donate online after watching the results.

Confirmed for support are Liverpool's favourite brothers, The Sensorites. As well as Terra Alpha, who generate emotionally charged, soaring melodies with refreshed and recharged vigour. The Big I Am round off the line up with their acoustic-folk loveliness.

The Crookes will play the legendry Loft room, allowing the audience to see the band intimately and hear every heartbreaking lyric perfectly.
