New EP and single from Chris Selman

Singer-songwriter Chris Selman continues on his journey to musical notoriety this month with the long awaited release of his new EP ‘The Gender Agenda’.

Rooted in Liverpool’s renowned ‘cultural underground’, Selman has quickly gone from open-mic regular to a respected musician with a dedicated following and growing radio presence.

Born in Stirling, Selman was surrounded by music from a young age. As musicians themselves, Selman’s parents constantly travelled all over the UK. They eventually settled in Sheffield, although at eighteen the aspiring musician moved to Liverpool to take up a university place studying music.

Selman’s musical style is a fresh take on the travelling rock star. Thoughtful lyrics entwined with sing along melodies have led to comparisons drawn to contemporary songwriters such as Ryan Adams and Sufjan Stevens.

The release of his first album ‘Money’s Everything’ saw Selman receive continued support from BBC Radio Merseyside, in particular Tony Snell, who declared Selman’s first single’ In The Morning’ as: "A great little song, sounds like a young Cat Stevens".

Selman has also received praise from veteran Daily Mirror journalist Gavin Martin who likened him to a new Al Stewart, while The Liverpool Echo described him as ‘a new talent that seems to encapsulate the qualities of the golden era of acoustic rock’ and The Daily Post described him as ‘a rising music star, one who could go all the way’.
Since receiving such acclaim, Selman has been on the road playing to intimate venues across the UK including gigs in Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Cambridge.

A satirical examination of the gender divide, with a subtle nod towards the festive season, ‘The Gender Agenda’ is a cleverly written pop gem. A tried-and-tested story in a new light with superbly written lyrics and an effortlessly great vocal, it somehow manages to fit the mould of three minute perfect pop. It is lifted from his forthcoming EP, also entitled ‘The Gender Agenda’, which contains three additional tracks.

The single and EP will be available to download from Sunday 12th December on iTunes.
