But as Fabio Capello's men work on their final training session before their first match against USA, the wife of England captain Steven Gerrard was spotted wearing an American top!
The gorgeous 27 year old popped out for last minutes party supplies, dressed in a classic AllSaints charcoal designer vest sporting an USA theme illustration.
With a Stars and Stripes flag, American Football helmet and grey skull with the words “Houston…We Have Touchdown,” you'd be forgiven for thinking that Alex had backed the wrong team.
The usually glamourous model looked like she had copied American actor and High School Musical star Zac Efron, who was spotted wearing the same designer printed top recently.
England's tournament gets underway in Rustenberg on Saturday and Mrs Gerrard plans to mark the ocasion with a huge family barbeque party for friends and family.
But before it all kicks off, the Queen of Wag's decided to head off for a quick spot of lunch at the trendy Neighbourhood Cafe with pals.
One onlooker said: "Alex always seems to wear top of the range gear, but even wearing casual clothes she manages to look gorgeous and make an a bit of an entrance".
"And she certainly made one with that USA vest top. Thought for a moment that she had forgotten which team to support..."
