Liverpool singer Amy Diamond has had her West End hopes dashed after being eliminated from BBC One's new talent show 'Over the Rainbow'.

Amy, 22, was one of 11 hopefuls battling for the role of Dorothy in Andrew Lloyd-Webber's new stage production of The Wizard of Oz.

Model Amy, from Widnes, became the first contestant to leave off after receiving the fewest public votes.

Amy said: "I'm really gutted but I've had an amazing time. I did what I came here to do."

Fellow scouser Stephanie Davis, 17, remains in the competition which has a celebrity judging panel of Lloyd-Webber, Charlotte Church, Sheila Hancock and John Partridge.
