Bookies are beginning to get hot under the collar, as the prospect of a shock "Jedward" X-Factor win becomes a reality.

Bookmakers across the UK stand to lose millions of pounds if the Irish twins can pull off the upset, and although they remain outsiders, their popularity has rocketed in recent weeks.

25-year old Olly Murs remains the bookies red hot favourite at odds of 7/4 to win this years competition followed by Stacey Soloman at 11/4 and Joe McElderry at 7/2.

Welsh teenager Lloyd Daniels is the bookies 6/5 favourite to be eliminated next week.

A spokesperson for Irish bookies Paddy Power said: "Jamie’s elimination this week is a real shock as we were fully expecting Jedward and Lloyd to be in bottom two. The twins really are starting to give us sleepless nights with the payout should they win getting very close to €300,000!"

Latest winning odds:

7/4 Olly Murs
11/4 Stacey Soloman
7/2 Joe McElderry
4/1 Danyl Johnson
8/1 John and Edward Grimes
40/1 Lloyd Daniels
