Jessica Simpson sparkles at glitzy Bollywood bash

Hollywood stunner Jessica Simpson has won millions of new fans in India, after she was pictured wearing a traditional Hindu 'bindi dot' at a glitzy party in Mumbai.

The actress attended a glittering 'Bollywood Bash' while in the country filming her new reality TV show, "The Price of Beauty".

The Dukes of Hazzard star landed in Mumbai on Sunday, and has been spending the week with Bollywood superstar Neha Dhupia.

And to welcome Jessica in style, the Indian actress threw a glamourous party in her honour at Mumbai's most exclusive venue, "The Vie Longe".

Sources at the chic venue said: "Jessica came into Vie Longe showing off a traditional 'bindi dot', which Indian women wear as a style statement.

"Hers was shaped like a goddess' spear or trident, and painted in holy vermillion, which is really fashionable with young Indian women.

"She looked absolutely stunning in a turquoise sari. Looking that good she fitted right in with India's fashion elite at the party."

Stunning Indian actress Neha has been chosen to represent Indian beauty, and will be on-hand throughout to advise the Hollywood stunner.

She said; "I'm absolutely thrilled and excited to have been chosen for the show, and I'll be giving my best to represent Indian beauty".

Simpson, 29, is following in the footsteps of Kylie Minogue and Julia Roberts who have both attended glamourous showbiz parties with Mumbai's glitterati recently.

Her new show will see her travel around the globe, finding out what different cultures consider beautiful and why.

The multi-platinum selling singer got into Indian fashion straight away, sporting an ornate "mehendi" pattern on her hand, painstakingly designed by an Indian artist.

Her spokesperson said; "The intricate mehendi designs are typically Indian, and made with a turmeric paste.

"They're worn at wedding ceremonies, and are supposed to bring good luck to eligible single women in India.

"It's a big style statement too. The really intricate designs take hours to apply by hand using just a brush, the artists are very skilled."

Simpson's trip comes just a fortnight after Julia Robert finished a three-week film shoot in Mumbai for her upcoming film, "Eat, Pray, Love", marking India's west coast as one of the world's most fashionable destinations.

She and her 17-strong crew are staying at the Taj Hotel, the scene of last year's horrific terrorist attacks.

When the cameras stop rolling, she hopes to follow in the footsteps of Liz Hurley and Julia Roberts by visiting the Royal Udaipur Palace in Rajasthan.

Her spokesperson said; "She doesn't wan't to be restricted to Mumbai, and she can't wait to see the rest of this amazing country".
