The high profile break-up of Katie Price and Peter Andre has seen a huge surge in sales of books, records and merchandise celebrating the couple.

Katie Price, 30, has become one of Britain's most successful and toasted women entrepreneurs since ditching her modelling moniker Jordan in 2005. Raking in an estimated £40m fortune on the way.

Stockists of her range, which includes books, perfume and clothes are now reaping the rewards of a very public marriage breakup with the 36 year-old Aussie singer.

Online auction seller Gillian Richards couldn't believe her luck when old copies of of Price's first novel Angel were snapped up from her eBay shop when the news broke on Monday.

"They'd been dormant stock for a while" said Richards, a 42-year-old house-wife and part time eBay seller from Guliford.

"I picked them up more than two years ago for pennies. I placed a buy it now slightly above the cover price, not really expecting they'd ever go but they all went at the beginning of the week."

It's not only eBay where sales have been on the rise. The book, and others by Price have risen through Amazon's sales charts this week.

Whilst the national press has lapped up the break up some media analysts have remained cynical.

One thing seems sure, column inches equal sales, especially online.

Internet specialist Mal Evans from Liverpool-based Click Creative believes the web has breathed new shelf life into products.

He said: "Before the net items would have found their way into high-street bargain bins before quickly being consigned to stock rooms.

"The internet gives a permanent shop window to these items now, so when a story like the Price-Andre split breaks stockists can quickly cash in on renewed interest."

A 2006 music collaboration between the former glamour model and the Australian hunk has also risen in the Amazon sales charts.

Should the former lovers, who famously met on ITV's I'm a Celebrity, proceed with divorce proceeds a lengthy public court battle is expected.

Experts believe the figure Price may lose in personal wealth to Andre will be softend by the gains in her burgeoning businesses.
