The first day of the Grand National meeting is upon us and our roving showbiz reporters will be on hand to give you all the lastest gossip from Aintree.

Today sees the runners and riders saddling up for the first time for three-day racing event, hosted by John Smith's.

Record numbers of crowds are expected to pack out the stands and have a flutter on the seven races taking place.

Famous faces rumoured to be attending the racing extravganza include wags, Coleen Rooney, Abbey Clancy, and Alex Curran. With appearances from TV presenter Nicky Hamilton-Jones and fashion designer Jeff Banks

And it's an odds on bet our team of reporters and photographers will be leading the pack when it comes to bringing you the exclusive chats and images from all the racing glitterati.

A number of after parties will also be held throughout the city after every race day. The first big one will the Fabulous Glamorous Secret Afterparty, which will be held tonight.

The organisers might be keeping the location of their venue a secret, but you can still grab a free wristband from Metquarter, Script and Boudoir Boutique.

Tomorrow is all about the girls, who will have their gold cups out for the annual Ladies day event.

One lucky fillie can expect to scoop a whopping £35,000 worth of prizes for being the most stylish race-goer.

Prizes include a brand new Citroen C-Crosser, an all-inclusive holiday for two in the Caribbean, a make-over and photo shoot styled by designer Jeff Banks, dinner at London's top restaurant The Ivy and if that wasn't enough even a £500 totepool bet on the national itself!

Champion jockey Ruby Walsh has also announced he will host the Ladies Day party at H-Bar, which will have a party for every day of the three-day racing festival.

Alma de Cuba will once again host the official John Smith's Winner's Party on Saturday night.

Winning jockeys, owners and trainers will be among those celebrating with punters.

Tickets to the party cost £30 and include a cocktail on arrival.
