Having gone down a storm with the Scouse crowd at Liverpool Fashion Week last year, professional stylist Julian Bennett says he jumped at the chance to host the event again.

Julian, who is best known for his role on Queer Eye for The Straight Guy, has been instrumental in the organisation of this year's show and has brought with him top designers and couture fashion.

The 34-year-old fashion guru says it was crucial for him to bring in more cutting edge designs for the fashion savvy Scouse girls.

And the pint-sized presenter reckons that within only two years Liverpool's show could rival that in London.

Julian said: "Last year I hosted one night with Bianca Gascoigne but it went so well that the asked me to stay for the rest of the week.

"I had the crowd in hysterics and I love to present, so I thought why not.

"Then a year later they asked me to host the week again which I agreed to on the basis that they didn't use glamour models.

"I wanted it to be a real fashion week, with classy models and designer clothes. Not just shop clothes.

"Real fashion is about cutting edge designs and seeing what designers can produce, and that's what I wanted to showcase.

"I really think Liverpool could rival the shows in London within a few years if we work hard at it.

"We have had a lot of great feedback from so many people about the show, so we are thinking about maybe running the show twice yearly.

"To showcase Spring/Summer and then Autumn/Winter.

"I had Samantha Cole and Roza Couture involved in the show, which are massive names in the industry.

"They are high-end fashion and it's a huge coup for the city to get them kinds of designers."

TV star Julian says he has also been impressed with the 'real' Liverpool models who get up there and strut their stuff like pro's on the runway, despite not having any training.

Julian said: "We have used real models, some aren't your usual size zero girls.

"We have girls modelling who are perhaps slighty shorter than conventional models or have bigger boobs but they are real girls.

"Just like the girls who will be buying the clothes.

"None of these girls are professional models either, these are just girls that turned up to a casting but they are all fantastic and strut their stuff brilliantly."

The end of fashion week will be closing with the event 'Scouse in the City' which is co-hosted by actress Margi Clarke.

And Julian fears he may have to enlist the help of an interpretor to understand her think Liverpudlian accent.

Julian added: "I'm really looking forward to tonight's closing party at the Liverpool Olympia.

"I'm hosting with Margi Clarke because it's called 'Scouse in the City' and we wanted a real scouser to present.

"I don't think you can get more Scouse than her. I may need a translator to understand her.

"But all in all, it has been a fantastic week and a real success.

"The people in this city are great and I love coming here to visit.

"We can only hope for bigger and better things for next year's show."
