Maccabees EXCLUSIVE: We are too shy for showbiz

They may be one of the hottest bands around, but indie stars The Maccabees have revealed they are too bashful for the showbiz lifestyle.

Getting ready to hit Liverpool at the end of March at the O2 Academy, the five-piece launched into the charts last year with their acclaimed debut album 'Colour It In'.

Despite playing to sell-out gigs all-over the UK, the young musicians reckon they are just too shy and often have to decline invites to lavish celebrity do's.

Lead guitarist Hugo White, told us: "We don't really feel at ease in the celebrity circuit.

"Our lead singer, Orlando went to the Brit awards with Matt Horne, he said it was pretty mental, but the rest of us have really held back.

"That's probably why we didn't attend that many festivals last year.

"We performed at a few of the smaller ones and that was enough for us.

"I suppose you could say were a bit shy and reserved and we prefer staying in writing music than attending lavish do's.

"We're not a band that shows-off. We think our music can speak for ourselves."

The lads are currently embarking on their first UK tour in nine months, and visit Liverpool's O2 Academy on March 28th.

And the boys have admitted they hold a special affinity towards the city after recording a host of tracks in Elevator Studios.

Hugo, 22, added: "I can't wait to come back to Liverpool and play. We always get a really good reaction from the crowd, they are mental.

"We recorded the majority of our first album in Liverpool's Elevator Studios. So it will be nice to get back to our old stomping ground.

"Our first album got some really good reviews and we feel that the next one is a natural progression.

"We want to show everyone how much we have changed and developed as a band.

"All of us have tried so hard and it's the best we think it can be.

"I'm so proud of it and hopefully our fans like what we have produced."

The boys new single No Kind Words is available for download now with the album Wall of Arms due out in May.

The guys are set perform at the Liverpool O2 Acedemy on March 28.
