After months of speculation, it seems the Royal Wedding is set to be a big fat gypsy affair after Kate Middleton was spotted dress hunting in Liverpool.
Shoppers were gobsmacked to see Prince William's fiancee browsing in Nico, the dressmakers behind many of the outrageous outfits shown in the Channel4 documentary.
Dressed in her trademark trench coat and oversized sunglasses, the brunette beauty scoured the rails of extravagant bridalwear, even stopping to try on a diamante crown.
The future queen was then helped into a massive eight foot-wide gown by Nico owner, Thelma Madine, who starred in the TV series.
But, as excitement hit fever pitch, the 'royal visit' was exposed as an elaborate April fool by local radio station, Radio City 96.7.
The bride-to-be was actually 28-year-old Lisa Brannigan, a trainee interior designer who was eyeing-up potential gowns with friend, and breakfast show host, Simon Ross.
Lisa, who is marrying fiance Francis in Ibiza in September, said: "People always say how much I look like Kate so I thought it'd be fun to help Rossie play a prank on the listeners.
"These dresses are stunning but a bit too over-the-top for my taste.
"Plus I'm getting married on a beach so I would be far too hot in a gypsy dress - they weigh a tonne!"
Seamstress Thelma added: "Lisa looks gorgeous - but I think this is the closest we'll ever get to seeing 'Kate Middleton' in a gypsy wedding dress!"
