Legendary Beatles haunt Abbey Road is no longer up for sale. There had been concerns that it may be re-developed into something other than a recording studio.
But it has been announced that Abbey Road has been granted Grade II listed building status and that EMI will not be selling after all.
The Department For Culture Media And Sport said the Grade II status had been granted to acknowledge ''outstanding cultural interest and to ensure that recording artists for generations to come can continue to make and record music in the same rooms as musical icons of years gone by''.
In a statement EMI confirmed that they are in talks with investors about re-vitalizing the studio, which in the current financial climate is making a loss.
However, the music giant have no plans to sell it and believe it should remain in EMI’s ownership.
