One of Cheryl Cole’s “final six” in this years X Factor has said he was “gutted” when he found the Girls Aloud favourite would be his mentor.
Nineteen-year-old Daniel Fox, from Bury, impressed pop mogul Simon Cowell and fellow judges Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh with his operatic style, and managed to make the final twenty-four.
But the youngster has described his disappointment at finding Cheryl would be his personal mentor in the final stages of the competition.
He said: “I wasn’t pleased at all because Cheryl didn’t get me. She didn’t agree with the others and she didn’t understand what my singing was about.
The “judges homes” stage of the competition will be aired this weekend, and Daniel is sworn to secrecy about who will make it through to the final stages of the show.
But he promised viewers there would be “plenty of drama” on Saturday night, when he sings Mariah Carey’s “Without You” and Lonestar’s “I’m Already There.”
The singer revealed; “She ends up walking off upset and starts crying and I hear her saying to the producers ‘this doesn’t feel right’, then they take her into a room and talk to her.
“She tells me I am an incredible artist and I have more passion than anyone else. I don’t know what they said to her in that room, I will find out when I watch the show.”
