In scenes reminiscent of his classic comedy golf film Caddyshack Bill Murray hit specator Gayle DiMaggio on the head with a wild shot, resulting in a trip to hospital to receive stitches.
Gayle, who lives on the course, was standing in her backyard watching the Outback Pro-Am in Tampa Bay, Florida, when Murray hooked a shot on the 9th hole, striking her in the left temple.
She said: "He came over and laid down on the ground with me and he was very concerned, asking if I was OK."
"Once he knew I was OK and not seriously hurt, then he started joking with me, asking how many fingers he was holding up."
DiMaggio told Murray that she only had one request after their chance encounter, asking him for an autographed copy of his golfing comedy Caddyshack when he dropped by to check up on her.
