Merseytravel has been successfully reaccredited with a National Big Tick Award for its Merseylearn Skills for Life project, at the prestigious Business in the Community Awards.
Big Ticks are awarded to companies whose programmes demonstrate the positive impact of responsible business.
Merseytravel received the National Big Tick Award in 2009 from HRH the Prince of Wales, for their commitment to Skill for Life and the positive business and social impacts this commitment has brought – this reaccreditation comes after Merseylearn met the original targets set out and demonstrated ongoing development of the programme.
Chair of Merseytravel, Councillor Mark Dowd, said: “We are delighted to have achieved reaccreditation and the recognition that this brings with it.
“Merseytravel will only ever be as good as our staff, so we see this as a vital part of our work to make us the best we can be.”
Chief Executive and Director General of Merseytravel, Neil Scales, said: “Gaining national credit like this justifies the efforts of every single person involved in building Merseylearn and the vast majority of our staff who have used the service to better themselves and their life chances.
“Reaccreditation further emphasises our commitment and reinforces our determination to be a world-class organisation that invests in its staff and leads by example.”
Business in the Community celebrates and recognises companies that have continued to invest in Corporate Responsibility and can evidence the positive impact of this investment.
