Liverpool LINk has been shorlisted for the Team of the Year at a prestigious national award ceremony.
The Local Involvement Network (LINk) is made up of local people and groups who aim to find out what people like and dislike about health and social care services and then work with the people who run these services to create lasting improvements.
The LINk support team, who are employed by Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Service, have been whittled down from 95 entries to be shotlisted for the Good Scrutiny Awards 2010.
The Good Scrutiny awards exist to recognise the efforts of those who look at the effectiveness of public services.
LINk has been shortlisted for the award because of their success in creating an open forum on healthcare in Liverpool and ensuring people’s opinions are heard by the key decisions makers in the sector.
Over the last year, the LINk team has developed a structure which operates successfully at neighbourhood level and put together a series of training and support sessions which other networks and organisations can benefit from.
Service Manager Kathy Hull said: “We are really honoured to be shortlisted for this award which is recognition of the team’s efforts over the last year.
"We are now the biggest LINk in the country with more than 2626 members and the LINK organisation has been vital in giving Liverpool residents a stronger voice in how their health and social care services are delivered.”
Regional Lead of the LINk’s User and Carer Engagement and Mental Health Improvement programme Paul Greenwood said: “Liverpool LINK is exemplary in evidencing that people working together can make a difference.”
Executive Member for Healthcare and Safeguarding, Cllr Ron Gould, said: “The time spent on developing the membership and relationships has resulted in effective joint working which has influenced some of the key agendas and challenges in the city.”
The Good Scrutiny Awards will be held from 30th June until 1st July at The Brewery, London.
