A visit to scenic Llangollen, including the town's steam train railway could be closer than you think, with public transport links from Liverpool and Wirral making the journey quick and easy.

Merseytravel is encouraging the use of rail and bus connections to the area from Liverpool and Wirral by including a full-colour map and transport information in the inside cover of the current Merseyrail timetable brochures, showing how to get to Llangollen from Merseyside using the Merseyrail network.

By travelling on the Borderlands Line to Wrexham then taking the bus to Llangollen, or using the Wirral Line to Chester for trains to Ruabon then catching a bus to Llangollen, with a journey time of less than two hours, a great day out is within easy reach.

Councillor Mark Dowd, Chair of Merseytravel and an ex steam engine driver said, “Merseytravel operate a great range of tourist attractions here on Merseyside, but with the summer holidays just around the corner we realise that people sometimes want to travel further afield and so we do all that we can to support those journeys and help our passengers to enjoy days out right across the region. Take the kids because steam is a dream!”

For further information pick up one of the timetable brochures from any Merseytravel Travel Centre or staffed Merseyrail station, phone Traveline – 0871 2002233 or visit www.merseytravel.gov.uk
