Liverpool LINk leading the way in health and social care

Liverpool LINk has been commended for their work tackling health and social care issues in the city.

LINk is an independent network made up of local people and groups. The LINk’s job is to find out what people like and dislike about health and social care services and then work with the people who run these services to create lasting improvements.

The organisation has developed new ways of working with communities in the city and has been commended by the Northwest Regional Lead for LINk, NHS Northwest and Liverpool PCT.

LINk has implemented a new system of information gathering and analysis, to help ensure service improvements are made where they are most needed.

So other networks and organisations can benefit from this the network has launched a “Task and Finish Toolkit,” essentially a guide on successful community engagement.

Service Manager at Liverpool LINk Kathy Hull said: “Over the last year we’ve been working on three major issues, alcohol related hospital admission, healthy weight and personalisation. Members from the core group of LINk, headed up these task and finish groups, each of which have culminated in the production of very successful, comprehensive and well received reports with recommendations.

“So all LINks across the country can benefit from this work, we have launched the “Task and Finish Toolkit” based on our own experiences. The kit is offered as part of “Task and Finish” training and covers topics such as terms of reference, action planning, research methods and the role of LINk support staff in a comprehensive 42 page document.”

Northwest Regional Lead of the LINk’s User and Carer Engagement and Mental Health Improvement programme Paul Greenwood said: “The Liverpool LINk ‘Task and Finish’ reports are very comprehensive and the process offers a real opportunity for communities to be meaningfully involved in the development of reports covering issues raised. The process undertaken will become a template for other LINks in the region in how to engage communities and work in partnership with statutory services in evidencing the needs of the population and ensuring the delivery of quality services.”

For organisations that would like to take part in Liverpool LINk’s ‘Task and Finish’ training, where they will receive a full copy of the toolkit, contact the Liverpool LINk support team on 0151 227 5177 or email info@liverpoollink.org.
