Liverpool Charity and Voluntary service has helped charity Basement secure funding for their work tackling homelessness in the city.
Basement runs the only evening service in Merseyside for people experiencing homelessness. The project has been offering a drop in service for nine years in the city centre, giving advice and help on a range of issues.
With the help of LCVS funding advisors the charity has managed to secure £20,000 from the Garfield Western Foundation and £50,000 from the Clothworkers Foundation.
These funds will go towards vital refurbishments to Basement’s new premises on Parr Street.
Carol Hamlett, Basement manager said: “Demand for our services and the fact that we now offer training programmes has meant we need to move to bigger premises which we’ve secured on Parr Street.
"With LCVS’s help and support we have been able to secure £70,000 towards the refurbishment work in the building. We now need to raise a further £80,000.
"Once we have secured this we look forward to being able to provide new and better services to the homeless.”
Ged Simpson, Funding Advisor at LCVS said: “It's been great to help Basement secure funds for their vital work helping the homeless in the city.
"We are keen to help as many organisations as we can, in particular voluntary and charity groups.
"The work our team does can be the difference between a successful funding bid or receiving that soul destroying letter from a funder telling them they have not been successful.”
