Cob a job... and earn some dough!

A Liverpool "jobs café" is offering the unemployed the chance to bite back during the credit crunch and come in for a ‘Cob and a Job’.

In the New Year, every Wednesday morning starting on 6th January, the Job Bank on Tunnel Road Wavertree is offering people breakfast and a relaxing atmosphere in which to search the latest jobs, access skilled help with applications and sound general employment advice.

Across East Liverpool, Job cafes are also held at ELECT’s offices in Ruscombe Road (off Finch Lane) Dovecot every Monday from 1pm till 4pm and at Venture Housing, 212 Boaler Street, L6 every Thursday from 10am till 1pm. For further information ring 230-0300 or visit www.liverpooljet.org

The events are run by Liverpool City Council’s JET Service which offers professional career guidance and training.

Councillor Marilyn Fielding, Liverpool’s Executive Member for Safer Stronger Communities said: “We aim to get everyone who wants to work, back into work and give them the tools for a successful career. These jobs café are accessible, extremely friendly and offer people free postage, telephone use and one-to-one support to help people build skills and confidence.

“As a city council we are determined to support everyone who wants to work, giving them the skills to progress in a very competitive jobs market and transform their lives for the better.”
