A doctor who worked at an eye hospital in Liverpool in the 1970s has come back to the city in search of old co-workers.

Dr Abdur Rahman worked at St Paul's Eye Hospital from 1971 to 1972 and is in the city from 14th May to 17th May for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Congress held at the BT Convention Centre.

Dr Rahman has been working in Boston, Lincolnshire for 32 years with another ex-colleague Dr Refaat.

St Paul's Eye Hospital was situated on Old Hall Street in Liverpool city centre.

It opened in 1912 and was held in high regard in the local community until it closed in 1992 and moved to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

The 1970s building is now a Radisson hotel.

Dr Rahman said: "We worked at St Paul's Eye Hospital, Liverpool from 1971-1972, and we have very fond memories of that time.

"We would like to meet anybody who worked at that time and knows or remembers us.

"One of of our friends, Dr Fotias Ghanius, who worked with us in the city is coming to Liverpool from America for the first time after 40 years.

"Dr Refaat and myself have been working at Boston, Lincolnshire for 22 years and 32 years and have been to Liverpool few times to see the old hospital place which is a hotel now.

"We would like to go out for a meal with our old colleagues to catch up on old times if they agree to it."

Anyone who worked with Dr Rahman or Dr Refaat in the 1970s should e-mail newsdesk@clickliverpool.com.
