A bolt-tightening ceremony took place as the final metal beams for the new "Fire Fit Hub" were put in place in Liverpool.

The development is thought to be the biggest Fire and Rescue Service project of its kind in the UK.

The £5.2 million Toxteth Fire Fit Hub, which is being built by Wates Construction, will see a state-of-the-art fire station complete with youth, community and sporting facilities built.

In the photo are (back row, left to right) Mark Adams, Key Account Manager from Wates Construction, Chair of Merseyside Fire & Rescue Authority Councillor Tony Newman, a firefighter from Green Watch at Toxteth Community Fire Station and Kieran Timmins, Deputy Chief Executive of Merseyside Fire & Rescue Authority and (front row, left to right) Toxteth Fire Fit Hub Ambassadors Omar Saad and Daz Martin.
