A Local NHS Trust has been recognised for the standard of information they offer the general public.
Liverpool Health Promotion Service, part of Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust, has been awarded the “Information Standard” quality mark, in recognition of the quality of information they provide.
The Information Standard scheme, supported by the department of Health, is an assurance that organisations provide trusted and high quality health and social care advice.
The scheme and standard were developed following a survey of the general public. This revealed that (72%) believe that they would be better able to manage their own and their family’s health if they had quick and easy access to health information they could trust.
Angela Coulter PhD, Hon FFPH, Hon FRCGP, an independent healthcare analyst who advises on the scheme, commented: “Organisations that become certified members of the scheme, and therefore display the Information Standard quality mark on their health information or social care materials, have proven that they adhere to the very highest standards of information production.”
Bernie Cuthel, Chief Executive of Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust said: “We are really pleased to achieve this recognition. The standard is an independent verification of the information we offer the general public. People can be confident that the information we offer can be trusted and relied upon.”
Paula Murphy, Health Information Manager said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the Information Standard which demonstrates our commitment to producing quality health information for the people of Liverpool.”
Any organisation that produces health and social care information can apply to become a certified member of the scheme.
The scheme’s certified members are a mix of national charities, NHS organisations, voluntary, statutory and commercial organisations.
