A Liverpool charity is working in partnership with one of Liverpool’s independent coffee & catering companies to offer city workers a healthy options menu.
Health@Work aims to improve the health and wellbeing in businesses across Liverpool. The charity has been asked by coffee shop and caterer Bean to help provide a healthy options menu.
It is recommended by experts that we consume no more than 6g of salt per day, limit our fat consumption (50g per day for women, 75g for men) and eat at least five pieces of fruit and vegetables each day.
Health@Work has been working with the owner of Bean, Jon Whyte, to create menus which will maintain a healthy and balanced diet. The food choices offer tasty dishes but which are low in salt, saturated fat and processed sugar, with all the dairy products sourced ethically.
Health Advisor Reena Sharma said: “Jon has provided the Health@Work team with food for our meetings and conferences and he knows that we are well known for our work to promote healthy eating and living. He has had many requests from his customers for healthier options, so he asked us for our expert advice.”
Jon Whyte owner of Bean said: “We’ve been working with Health@Work for some time providing their buffets. Knowing their area of expertise, I knew they’d be the ideal partner for creating a health focused menu. The information and advice Reena provided has been priceless in developing this and ensuring we achieve our objectives.”
