High praise for Claire House

The Claire House Children’s Hospice on Wirral has won high praise as a centre of excellence.

Claire House which looks after children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions has been recognised by the Champions Awards run UK charity network ACT (Association for Children’s Palliative Care).

The Awards are designed to acknowledge excellence in the delivery of services to life-limited children, young people and their families nationwide and pay tribute to the vital care provided by so many individuals, teams and organisations operating in the field.

The Association for Children’s Palliative Care invited children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions - as well as their parents, family members and carers- to nominate their ‘Champions’.

Judges singled out Claire House which cares for up to 400 families annually, as ‘highly commended’, in the ‘Best Organisation’ category.

It serves an area covering from Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

Said Karen Wright, Chief Executive of Claire House: "Staff, volunteers and families here at Claire House are committed to giving our children and young people a real quality of life. Recognition like this is fantastic and very important for us as we work as a team to ensure consistently high standards are achieved."

The ACT Champions Awards are supported by The Department of Health (England).
