Liverpool is hoping to secure 2,500 jobs from the Ministry of Justice with the help of a new £50M office development.

Planning permission has been submitted for what will be one of Liverpool's biggest devolpments towering high at 18 storeys.

Developers, West Bay Capital, from Northern Ireland, are hoping to start the build by the end of the year which will provide a potential home for relocating Government departments.

The scheme will take take over three years to complete and will give 230,00 sq ft of office space at the Pall Mall address.

West Bay Capital is a family- owned business that specialises in developing offices, retail outlets and residential builds.

Managing director Ashley Moore, said: "We belive that Liverpool can become one of the UK’s premier business destinations and this application signifies our belief.

"The city has some fantastic business destinations, but it's important that it continues to grow.

"This is the only development taking place in Liverpool that meets Government department requirements and would be a fantastic economic boost for Liverpool."

The development will comprise of two separate buildings and a covered internal courtyard linking ground floor cafes, restaurants and shops.

Andrew Owen, from the project agents Mason Owen, said: "For a build like this to be even considered during the current economic climate shows the underlying strength of the city as a commercial centre."
