Social networking giant Facebook has entered cyberspace warfare with up-and-coming rival Twitter.
Worried about losing their number one crown Facebook announced several major changes to their homepage and newsfeed in a bid to take on the contender.
After failing to acquire Twitter late last year, the site has shifted the focus from interactivity to real-time web.
Twitter's new craze of Micro-blogging allows users to post short updates in real-time across the web.
Realising they are lagging behind in the Micro stakes, Facebook have upped the ante by changing its prompt from "What are you doing right now?" to "Whatâs on your mind?"
Another move that mimics its rival, Facebook is lifting the 5,000 limits on the number of friends a user can have.
An industry insider said: "Facebook are really sweating over the competition Twitter poses.
"They have been forced to make desperate efforts to win users back who want the option of real-time blogging.
"They're determined to modernise and stay on top of the game and it might pay off."
