Liverpool's Radio City 96.7 has been shortlisted for a top award at the Music Week Awards.

The hit music station could be named 'Regional Radio Station of the Year' at a star-studded ceremony to be held in London on 8 April.

The station will be up against two of its sister stations, Lancashire's Rock FM and Glasgow's Clyde 1, along with BBC Radio Kent and Heart London.

Breakfast DJ Simon Ross said: "We are really pleased to be shortlisted; it shows that the hard work of everyone on the station during the year of Capital of Culture has been recognised. We are very hopeful to be returning to the city with the trophy, and hopefully it won’t be the only trophy that the city sees this year!"

The ceremony recognises the cream of the UK music industry and will take place in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, which recently played host to the BAFTA ceremony.

Information on the award will available on www.radiocity.co.uk
