One of the region’s leading waste processing specialists has announced plans for an extensive £4 million expansion plan that will see over 40 new jobs created.

Capacity at WSR Recycling Limited’s site in Widnes, which services the whole of Merseyside and Cheshire, will be doubled within the next nine months.

The existing site currently processes approximately 112,000 tonnes of waste per year, and doubling this to over 200,000 tonnes will facilitate the ambitious growth plans that WSR Recycling has in place.

Mark Trousdale, managing director, WSR Recycling, said: “WSR has never been a company to stand still.

“We drive forward innovation and respond to the changing needs of the market. Having seen an increase in demand for specialist and sophisticated waste processing operations, we’ve committed to investment in this area and will continue to develop these services in line with customer needs.

“It’s an exciting time for the company and we are extremely pleased with the progression we are making against the backdrop of a difficult economic climate. The investment – and the job creation – make an excellent success story for Merseyside and Cheshire.”

Working with over ten Local Authorities, including Halton Council, WSR Recycling has carved an enviable reputation for delivering first class waste processing services.

Having established pioneering operations, particularly for its street cleansing waste stream, WSR Recycling achieves an impressive recycling rate of over 85 percent per annum.

By investing further in these operations, WSR Recycling will be able to create a ‘dual-facility’ which will allow the company to efficiently and effectively manage non-hazardous and dry waste streams.

This sophisticated and state-of-the-art facility will create over 40 new jobs across a wide range of skills sets, including engineering, operations and logistics.

Recruitment for these positions will commence towards the end of 2011.
