A charity networking event hosted at the Varsity saw a record attendance from businesses and charities.
The event was organised by Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services (LCVS) in partnership with Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and more than 60 organisations attended the event.
The evening which ran from 5.30PM to 8PM on Wednesday, was designed for charities and their contacts to network with each other and learn about new developments in the sector.
There were two presentations during the event. Vince O’Donovan from Virgin gave a presentation on a new online giving website www.virginmoneygiving.com. The company is launching the site to benefit charities both large and small.
Jane Harris from the Morgan Foundation gave a presentation on the launch of their 2009 Entrepreneur Awards that are designed to encourage entrepreneurship in the North West and North Wales - whether in new businesses, young entrepreneurs, social enterprises or charities.
Clare Beavan, Philanthropy Development Manager at LCVS, said: "We are delighted that over 60 people came along on Wednesday evening. These networking events organised in partnership with Liverpool Chamber of Commerce are attracting more and more people, both businesses and charities. The positive feedback generated suggests that charities are really benefiting, learning new ideas from colleagues and creating their own support networks."
Jenny Stewart, Head of Client Services at Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, added: "We are delighted to work with LCVS to hold these charity networking events. At the Chamber, we feel an obligation to the city’s Third Sector, to encourage it to network and make those all important business contacts."
