Warning: Ryanair website to go offline for 10 hours

Ryanair's decision to require all passengers to check-in on-line is to face its first big test when the airline's website is off-line for ten hours.

The website www.ryanair.com will close from 7pm om Wednesday 17th June 2009 until 5am on Thursday (18th June) for essential upgrade maintenance.

Ryanair issued an apology for potential inconvenience but is offering no concessions.

In order to avoid any inconvenience, web check-in passengers travelling on Thursday 18th must ensure that they have checked in online before 6pm on Wednesday.

Passengers who booked flights on or before the 21st May and selected to use airport check-in will be unaffected and can check-in at the airport as normal.

Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara added: “Ryanair’s guaranteed lowest fares will see 67 million passengers travel on one of our 800 routes this year.

"To ensure our website can continue to cater to the enormous demand for our low fares we are undertaking an essential systems upgrade which will temporarily close our site from 19:00hrs Wednesday until 05:00hrs Thursday morning.

"All web check-in passengers who are due to travel this Thursday should check-in and print off their boarding passes before 18:00hrs Wednesday.”
