A sparkling performance by a team of MBNA volunteers has ensured Chester FC’s Exacta Stadium will be in match-winning condition for the start of the new football season.
MBNA, the club’s principal partner, sent a squad of 18 to tackle the ground’s Centurion Community Stand and the group cleaned the terraces from top to bottom in spite of the torrential weather.
Pat Cluskey, CEO of Chester FC, said: “We’re very grateful for the support MBNA has shown us over the last two years and the support they continue to show us as principal partners of the club. They made a commitment that this partnership would be much more than a sponsorship deal and they are backing up that commitment. The team of MBNA volunteers did a fantastic clean-up job!”
MBNA pledged its support to Chester FC when the phoenix club was formed two years ago with a two-year shirt sponsorship deal and the interim appointment of MBNA employee Steve Ashton as the club’s CEO.
The leading local employer announced in May that it had agreed another two-year shirt deal with the Blues and was to become the club’s principal partner.
MBNA’s Corporate Affairs Director, John Greaves, added: “We’re immensely proud of the success Chester FC has enjoyed on the pitch with back-to-back promotions. But we’re equally proud of the way the community has rallied to support the club. When we announced our principal partnership, we made a commitment to back the club and help build even closer ties between the club and the community. The people and the city have played a vital role in keeping Chester FC moving forward – and we expect to do more that reflects the community element of our partnership as Chester FC enters an exciting season in the Conference North this year.”
MBNA supports a range of local initiatives which help enrich the lives of the Chester community, playing an important role in enhancing and delivering events such as MBNA Chestivals and October’s MBNA Chester Marathon.
