Middle England Developments is pleased to announce news on the old Merseyrail Building on Hatton Garden, Liverpool. They have exchanged contracts to buy the former Mersey travel building at Hatton Gardens for £1.8m.
The company has already submitted plans to convert the building into 51 serviced apartments which will be sold to investors under a similar model to its student properties.
The iconic building has now been named in the spirit of its imposing facade sitting atop the incline of Hatton Garden and is to be called “The Richmond”. Planning permission is scheduled for July, and work will commence on the site immediately following. Richmond Luxury Living says that all 51 units at “The Richmond” will be ready in early 2013.
Steven Hesketh has now been appointed as General Manager of the development. He joins from the Bridge Street Apart Hotel in Liverpool One where as GM he oversaw the opening back in April 2009 of the site. For the last financial year Steven oversaw occupancy figures of 84% against a turnover of £1.6million. He has nearly 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry and has worked for names such as the Ramada, The Macdonald as well as Thornton Hall.
Current public positions held by Mr. Hesketh include the Liverpool Hoteliers Association as well as being a committee member for The Mersey Partnership Visitor Economy.
Gary Bond from Bond-media and also a shareholder in the development commented “It is with great pleasure that our company entrusts the management of such an iconic development to Steven Hesketh. He is a passionate hotelier who always puts guests and associates first. His depth of knowledge, personal and professional style is an asset to our company. The calibre of Steven, his experience, awards and contacts made this an easy decision for us.”
Site Address – Richmond Building, 24 Hatton Garden Liverpool L3 2AN. More information on the development, including partners will be released over the next few weeks.
