Merseyside firm of solicitors Maxwell Hodge has teamed up with health and safety training and support organisation Health@Work to host a seminar looking at the legal and wellbeing implications of workplace bullying.

Titled “De-mystifying Workplace Bullying in 60 Really Useful Minutes”, the hour will guide employers and employees through the minefield that is workplace bullying. Attendees will gain invaluable information on how to spot signs of bullying and give advice on simple things that can be done to deal with the issue -- that could ultimately keep you out of court.

It is the first time Maxwell Hodge and Health@Work have collaborated professionally.

Health@Work’s programme manager Keith Gorman said: “Statistics show that cases of bullying in the workplace increase during tough economic times - and that any instance of bullying can have a huge impact on staff morale and the bottom line.

“Both employers and staff need to be aware of the issue and know that help is available.”

Maxwell Hodge employment law specialist Laura Chalkley said: “We are delighted to be able to collaborate with Health@Work on this project. The problem of workplace bullying can have far-reaching effects.

“If left unchallenged, it can not only have a serious effect on people’s personal lives, but in some instances can result in costly court cases for businesses concerned.

“Maxwell Hodge and Health@Work have vast experience in dealing with both sides of this issue and so make perfect partners to host this seminar, which we hope will be an informative and fun event.”

The seminar takes place at the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce on Old Hall Street on Friday, October 21 at 9am. It is free for members and £10 for non-members. Places can be booked via the Liverpool Chamber website at www.liverpoolchamber.org.uk.
