A group of local businessmen are gearing up for the Three Peaks Challenge on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th July in support of Help for Heroes and Commando 999 - two charities for wounded servicemen and women.
Venmore Chairman Paul Lea, along with Mark Newton-Jones and eight other businessmen from Liverpool’s Shop Direct and ten partially disabled ex-soldiers who were injured during service will be taking part.
Hoping to raise £15,000 for the charities, Paul Lea and his climbing colleagues will be ascending three of the UK’s largest peaks, Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scarfell Pike in the Lake District and Snowdon in Wales all within twenty-four hours.
Climbing over 26 miles of mountain and covering 720 miles of road in this short window of time will be no mean feat and the men and women involved strive to raise awareness of these exceptional charities and the work they do to assist our country’s armed forces who have been killed, disabled or injured while in combat.
Paul Lea, Chairman of Venmore said: “We are proud to be supporting two such extraordinary charities that delivers an incredible service to our troops all over the UK.
"We have already received a great deal of support from our families, friends and colleagues but we are hoping to inspire even more people to pledge their support to this great cause and assist Help for Heroes and Commando 999 in continuing with their noble efforts.”
To date, £2,449.73 has been raised by the Three Peaks team and further donations can be accepted at online pledge site http://www.bmycharity.com/sdgthreepeaks or alternately, pledge your support via email to m.barrigan@venmores.co.uk.
