The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) North West group is launching a CV Doctor Service to support aspiring students, graduates and young professionals hoping to break into the competitive PR industry.
Top PR leaders from some of the North West’s biggest agencies and companies – including Weber Shandwick, McCann Erickson, Amaze PR, Paver Smith and Warburtons – will be on hand to provide CV advice to budding PR professionals who send their CVs to the CIPR North West before 31 August 2011.
Once a CV has been submitted, a personal reply will be sent by one of the CV Doctors with advice including: how to make the CV stand out from the crowd, how to enhance work experience, and how to tailor a CV to suit the role. All CVs will be treated in strict confidence.
Chair of the CIPR North West group, Erin Portsmouth, said: “PR in [INSERT Manchester/Liverpool/Preston etc] has always been a highly competitive industry to break into. Today’s tough job market makes it even more challenging for graduates and young professionals wanting to get their big break in a successful agency or in-house team.
“CIPR North West is keen to support people starting out on their PR career from across the region as well as ensuring that the industry has access to a talented pool of up and coming professionals.”
CV Doctors will include Jo Leah, MD of Weber Shandwick North, Abi Whitfield, Group Account Director at McCann Erickson, Sandra McDowell, Partner at Amaze PR, Jon Brown, Managing Partner at Paver Smith and Tearmh France, Corporate Communications Manager at Warburtons.
