Unions have expressed concerns about proposals at Liverpool Women’s Hospital to cut administrative and clerical staff, with 30 jobs at risk of redundancy.
UNISON and Unite are appealing to hospital management to stop the proposed cuts that will also see, in addition to 30 potential job losses, scores of administrative and clerical staff downgraded.
Paul Summers, UNISON Regional Organiser said: “We strongly oppose these cuts. They will not only be devastating for the staff concerned but will also impact on the service provided to patients.
“Like the coalition government, Liverpool Women’s hospital management are cutting too fast and too deep without consideration for their staff and their patients.
“Liverpool Women’s Hospital is a centre of excellence and such high standards are only achieved by a dedicated team of staff pulling in the right direction.
"These cuts send out the message that administrative and clerical staff are not valued.”
Steve Power, Unite Full Time Officer, said: “These are vital jobs that assist in delivering a quality service to patients.
“We urge the public to write to their local Councillors and MPs to appeal to them to stop these cuts.”
