Weaver Vale MP Graham Evans and his wife Cheryl jointly cut a ribbon to officially declare the new £650,000 Lady Heyes Park luxury touring caravan site at Kingsley near Frodsham as open for business.

Caravaners from across the region who flocked to pitch at Lady Heyes Park for the opening weekend gathered at a champagne reception to hear the MP, a self-confessed camping fan, describe Tony Faulkner, the man behind the development as “a farmer’s son turned entrepreneur.”

He said Mr Faulkner’s considerable investment in the site was good news for the visitors who will use the park, good news for the Faulkner family but was also good news for the economy.

“It’s only because of individuals and entrepreneurs like Tony Faulkner, who take risks during the tough times, that we can drive the economy forward,” said Mr Evans. “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”

Mr Evans, who was accompanied on the trip by his wife Cheryl and their three children George, 14, eight years old Tom and Sophie, aged 4, told Mr Faulkner that he was impressed by the on-site facilities which included an ultra-modern shower and laundry block with under floor heating.

Mr Faulkner told the MP that the opening of Lady Heyes Park was the culmination of a 15 year dream to develop a once traditional Cheshire farm into three thriving businesses.

After buying the land in 1996 Mr Faulkner opened the Whitley Brook Crematorium to offer vets and animal lovers a caring cremation service and created the Lady Heyes Craft and Antique Centre.

Now the opening of the site, which can accommodate 85 touring caravans, alongside the Lady Hayes Craft Centre has completed his grand plan.

“I’m delighted with the end result,” said Mr Faulkner, who was accompanied by his wife Liz. “The site commands wonderful views of the Cheshire countryside bordering the River Weaver and offers guests easy access to Delamere Forest, Chester and the Wirral.

“I believe Lady Heyes Park will offer tourists and visitors a stunning value-for-money introduction to the delights of Cheshire – especially as we have committed to offer them half price site fees for the rest of this year in recognition of the fact that many are experiencing tough times financially.”
