Wirral-based Mole Group, creator of the revolutionary ‘CombiSave’ boiler device, is in the running for two prestigious awards.
The CombiSave has been shortlisted for the Merseyside Environmental Awards’ Chamber of Commerce Innovation and Technology category against giants Mersey Travel and Liverpool One Management Company.
In addition is has been shortlisted for the Innovation and Creativity Award at the Wirral Business Awards.
CombiSave, the brainchild of Mole Group’s director David Furlong, is a patent-pending device which, when fitted to combination boilers, reduces the times taken for the water to run hot, thus cutting energy bills and the quantity of water used.
CombiSave is a low-cost item suitable for retrofit, a key buzzword in environmental technology.
The winners of the Merseyside Environmental Awards will be announced at a ceremony at St Georges Hall, Liverpool on May 18th, while the winners of the Wirral Business Awards will be revealed at Wirral’s Hillbark Hotel in July.
David Furlong, director of Mole Group, said: “These are exciting times for us and the recognition of being up for two awards is great. Just being shortlisted alongside such big names for the Merseyside Awards is something to be proud of.”
Mole Group has grown from Mole Engineering, set up by David 20 years ago, and now includes an innovation division, Furlong Innovations, through which David is developing energy-saving ideas.
Furlong Innovations scooped the Consumer Benefits Award at the Inaugural Energy Innovation Awards 2010, hosted by the Energy Innovation Centre, in recognition of the domestic savings and environmental benefits that can be achieved without compromising the end user.
