A city coffee shop named as one of the best in the UK is to open a second outlet on the waterfront.
Entrepreneurs Vip Bhatt and Jon Whyte will be opening Bean at Princes Dock on May 16, replacing their temporary outlet which has been in operation at Princes Parade on Liverpool’s waterfront since last December.
The new 2,500 sq ft Peel-owned premises will be located in the corner unit of the car park at William Jessop Way next to the Malmaison Hotel.
The business partners opened their first coffee shop at Brunswick Dock five years ago, and have since built a reputation for their high quality coffee – and for being one of the few coffee shops in the city to produce the highly impressive latte art.
Just over a year ago, Bean was the only coffee shop in the North West to be listed in The Independent’s ’50 Best Coffee Shops in the UK’ by a panel of coffee experts.
In addition to the two coffee shops, the company also operates a converted ice cream van known as the Bean Machine which delivers food and drinks to business parks around the city.
The new outlet will offer a wide range of fresh hot or cold food and drinks to eat in or take away. Up to 30 different sandwiches will be available through a ‘make while you wait’ sandwich bar, as well as jacket potatoes, hot soup, paninis, salads, pastries, cakes and pasta. The shop is also fully licensed, allowing customers to enjoy a range of premium wines and beers.
The 60-seater lounge will feature a meeting space with “boardroom style” seating and free wifi, offering them office facilities away from the office.
Director Vip said: “There are plenty of coffee shops across the city centre, but we have always recognised that some of the outlying areas are poorly served. We have been delighted at the way the local businesses and residents have adopted our Brunswick Dock shop and made it their own, and now we’re pleased to be able to offer the same high standard of coffee, service and amenities to the people of Princes Dock.”
Jon added: “To be able, in this current climate, to open up a new coffee shop is an achievement of which we are immensely proud. It shows that all our hard work over the years is starting to pay off as customers are starting to recognise the uniqueness within our brand.”
Bean Princes Dock will be open weekdays from 7am until 3pm Monday to Thursday, and 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday.
