Straight-talking business people are being offered the chance to win up to £2,000 from communications giant T-Mobile.

In a bid to identify the UK’s most straight-talking small business owners, T-Mobile has launched a "Straight Talking Business Pitch" competition judged by Channel 5's very own Hotel Inspector Alex Polizzi, herself renowned for being direct and getting to the point.

For a chance to win £2,000 - or £1,000 for two runners up - any Liverpool business can to go to www.t-mobile.co.uk/pitchyourbusiness until 3rd December, to apply.

Alex Polizzi said: “I’ve always advocated a straight-talking approach in business.

"It has nothing to do with being rude to people and everything to do with saving time and ultimately money.

"No matter what the market conditions, small business owners simply don’t have the time to waste and, in tougher times, straight-talking is all the more important.

"Suppliers to small businesses have an important role to play here.”

T-Mobile also carried out a survey that shows:

* One in three Liverpool small business owners waste an hour or more on long-winded conversations each day

* Two thirds (67%) of small business owners in Liverpool will switch off within five minutes if a conversation doesn’t get to the point

* Over half of Liverpool small business owners (51%) prefer to do business deals and discussions in person compared with only 38% in the rest of the UK
