SUBWAY®'s ‘Our Healthier Way’ campaign hit Merseyside yesterday to show people in Liverpool how they could become healthier by opting for a Low Fat Sub.

According to a recent survey, only one in three people in Liverpool are concerned about whether their lunch is healthy or not*, and the SUBWAY® chain is championing the Low Fat range from its menu in a bid to make it easier for customers in Liverpool to become healthier.

With 29% of workers buying lunch out each day*, the choices we make have a big impact on our health.

So, "Adam and Eve" from SUBWAY® took to Liverpool's Williamson Square to make workers aware of the healthy choices on offer each day.

SUBWAY® stores offer eight low fat options, and by choosing all the salad ingredients in a Sub for no extra charge, customers get one of the five daily servings of fruit and vegetables, which almost half of us feel is important to get within our lunchtime meal*.

Steve Richards, SUBWAY® development agent for Merseyside, said: “Making healthier choices should be made easy and customers at SUBWAY® stores can simply modify their Sub to make it healthier without compromising on taste.

“Our Healthier Way is all about offering a variety of tasty options which are low in fat because we thought if we get healthier, it’s easier for our customers to. We hope our customers in Liverpool will feel more inspired and enthused about eating more healthily in SUBWAY® stores following this campaign.”

Leading independent nutritionist, Juliette Kellow, said: “Excess fat and salt in our diet poses numerous health risks including high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease so it’s important people are able to opt for healthier alternatives without compromising on taste when they’re eating out on the high street.

"Being transparent with nutritional information is also crucial as it allows customers to make an informed choice before they order their meal.”

The SUBWAY® chain works closely with the Food Standards Agency and other government departments with its Health and Well-Being Commitments which illustrate the chain’s pledge towards nutrition and healthier living. The chain also formed a strategic partnership with leading national charity, Heart Research UK to mark a joint commitment to encourage people across the UK to eat better and lead healthier lifestyles.

The SUBWAY® chain has a range of eight low fat Subs, each with less than 6g of fat and fewer than 350 calories
