Dovecot residents who took part in a It’s a Knockout tournament were caught on camera by social landlord Riverside, in a bid to encourage others to join in family fun across the country.
Throughout the day around 700 people enjoyed the event, organised by Riverside with support from Liverpool City Council, Merseyside Fire Service, Liverpool JET Service, ELECT (East Liverpool Economic Community Trust), Kingsheath and District Residents Association, Remploy and Merseytravel amongst others.
Blueberry Park Primary School also opened its doors to host a variety of activities including circus skills, face painting, sports coaches and Dr Bike cycle maintenance.
Riverside not only donated £2000 towards the family fun day, but also arranged to film the event for its new website, to encourage more tenants and residents to get involved in community events.
Riverside’s Community Engagement Officer Rhoda Wilkinson said: “The event was a great opportunity to mix with members of the community who wouldn’t normally attend the likes of neighbourhood forums."
“We also raised money for charity by charging each team £5 to enter the tournament with the proceeds going to Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice.”
