One of the benefits of the increase in tourism is the number of tours available in Liverpool. We are very well served with a wide variety of tours.
There is the long running Magical Mystery Tour to all the Beatle sites. Two Open Top Bus Tours, one with a live commentary, one with a recorded commentary.
Both Cathedrals have Guides to show you round and make your visit a very enjoyable experience, there is no charge, but a donation is always appreciated towards the running of the Cathedral.
Guides are also to be found in St. George's Hall. There are independent Guides, like myself, taking people on a wide variety of walking and coach tours.
There are Duck Tours and Tunnel Tours, Tower Tours and Tours of all the National Trust properties in Liverpool not to mention the seasonal walks and tours offered by the rangers in the cities fantastic parks and fascinating cemeteries.
There is also a series of Sunday walks with the Blue and Green badges guides, information about the tours is available from the 08 Place on Whitechapel. Will it still be called the 08 Place next year? Answers in the comments box below.
Both Everton FC and Liverpool FC have Tours of the ground with very enthusiastic guides. The last time I did a tour of Goodison the guide was Dave Hickson, now over 80, the only man who has played for Liverpool, Tranmere and Everton. On the tour of Liverpool FC I wish the guides would drop the Yellow Mersey story, apart from that the tour is excellent.
There are also Ghost Tours.
Shiverpool Tours has been running very successfully for several years now, over 40,000 people have been scared by their tours of the haunted places in Liverpool.
I had never been on a Shiverpool Tour. As it was our youngest daughters birthday, we decide it would be fun to take a Ghost tour. There are a variety of tours, the one we did started outside the Philharmonic Pub.
This is a great theatrical experience, very well researched and expertly put to-gether. I will not spoil the night by telling you what happens, just that to say that you will be scared, very scared. Start your Christmas night out with a Ghost walk or as a present for that difficult family member. You will not be disappointed.
If you have an aged relative, who has left you a fortune in their will, this is one way of getting your hands on the money, that is, if you survive.
