I have occasionally been invited to contribute my views, mainly regarding The Beatles, on City Talk 105.9fm, our new local talk station. So, I was a little surprised to hear Jason Harborow hosting
a Friday morning show in place of Duncan Barkes, no "does he bite?" jokes please I am sure he has heard them all.
Jason, "I don't do ties" was the head of the Liverpool Culture Company. I would not like to say he was actually "in charge". But he walked away with a huge pay off because some-one hurt his feelings by alleging that he was useless and not up to the job, amongst other things. Jasser for his part had "health" problems.
Which does not seem to have prevented him setting up an events management company, no mention of Liverpool Culture Club on his web site, promoting Ricky Hatton's next fight and doing radio
appearances. He also has a villa and office in Spain. I suppose he would not consider returning some of his pay-off would he?
Possibly no-one at City Talk realised just how much the Chorley Chump is disliked here in Liverpool, or did they just want to be controversial, and that he may not have been the best replacement for Duncan.
Jason did have the decency to say that his show was a "Culture free zone". No change there then.
Can we look forward to the talented Aussie Robyn Archer, a Culture Company "boss" who spent less time in Liverpool than Yoko Ono, hosting an Arts programme? Perhaps Kelvin Mackenzie could front a news programme?
And how long before(Sur)Alex Ferguson hosts an unbiased sports programme? Keep listening.
