Ticket not to ride

There is a down turn in the economy, people are spending less, and not as many people are shopping. So Liverpool City Councils solution to this is not to help the struggling businesses by bringing in measures to encourage people into the City, but to employ 25 more Traffic Wardens.

It seems due to the reduced number of shoppers revenue from Parking Fines is down.

The City Council also wants to target Football supporters in particular. Since all parking close to both football grounds has been done away with many streets are now resident parking only, there is nowhere to park and people were happy to pay the fine and park so they can get to the game.

But having created this situation, the drones in Parking have come up with a great wheeze. Instead of putting a parking ticket on a car, cars will be towed and it will cost in excess of £120 to get your car back. Hope your team won.

To raise money for some of the insane schemes that this Council and Government promote an extra 25 Traffic Wardens are needed to squeeze every last penny out of the motorist. Even if these extra Traffic Wardens are only paid £15.000 a year that will be £375.000 that will need to be found. So how will that be raised, by issuing more tickets. Madness, we will drive people away from the city and to places that do not have such a Draconian attitude to motorists.

I have a solution, lets fine cyclists who ride on the pavements, the Council can raise a fortune doing that, but it won’t. Cyclists are a protected species and can do no wrong.

Lord Idiot Adonis, Transport Minister wants to spend yet more millions of our money encouraging people to cycle to the stations and using the train for their journeys.
Cycle England, an unelected Quango, is given £47million of public money to promote cycling. Why? Cycling is a life style choice and millions choose not to make it.

Lord Idiot Adonis states that there are far more journeys by bike in Holland than in England. Holland is flat, great to cycle on. Cycle from the Pier Head to Everton Brow and look at the view, you will probably realise that it is up hill all the way and one of the reasons why so many people do not want to cycle about Liverpool.

The Council will tell you it is encouraging cycling to improve the health of the citizens. I will tell you a cheap and easy way to improve the health of the citizens without robbing the motorist.

Ban Pizza delivery; in fact ban all fast food deliveries. Make people collect the food; some may even walk to the chippy.

Also ban TV remote controls, this will mean that people will actually get up to change channel and the exercise will do them good.

I would like to thank, Lynsey a student at JMU, who joined my tour of Mathew Street and wanted to tell the visitors about the Welfare state post 1945, Politics and Slavery, when the group wanted to hear about Liverpools musical heritage, which was why we were in Mathew Street. I hope that you woke up this morning with a painful hangover because you were a pain and if any one knows Lynsey do not give her any sympathy.

Banning pizza delivery gave me a good laugh. Won't work; McDonald's will then start delivery. Great piece. Keep it up.
