Close to where I live there is a field that is used mainly by dog walkers and for the occasional kick around by the local kids.
People practising their golf - much to the annoyance of those residents who have had golf balls though their window - have also used the field. Fortunately no injuries have occurred.
I suggested that to stop the golfers practising, the grass should be left to grow. I know from those rare occasions I have tried to improve my golf handicap, that long grass is not good for golf.
However, this field is regularly mown and the machine that is used to cut the grass is about the size of a mini (car not skirt). It makes so much noise the driver has to wear ear defenders.
Would it not be wise is these frugal times to go back to cutting the grass with an old style push-me pull-me mower and stop using the electric or petrol driven mowers?
This would have several benefits: it would not use up the precious resources the environmental lobby keep bleating on about. It would not be as noisy and the obese could be employed to push the mowers, thereby getting exercise to rid them of excessive fat.
It would also crete work to get people off benefits, whether they are fat or not!
With 2 million now unemployed, surely it is madness to use machines when a person can do the job. Why rush the job, which is what the machine does?
Let's get Britain working... it's up to us.
