This giant spider thing is getting more and more underwhelming by the minute.
They call it "La Princess". Stupid inappropriate, name, but then the spokesman is called "Nicky Webb"... could it get more surreal?
Talk about a bad case of the Emporer's New Clothes!
Why on earth are so many people standing around watching this pile of junk trundling down the street or being hoisted on a crane into the Salthouse Dock?
It's not my idea of a spectacle. More like a spectacular waste of money!
Not only has the Culture Company paid £1.8m to a gang of French (so-called) artists to bring this heap of junk to Liverpool, but the city centre has been virtually turned into a traffic no-go zone for the duration.
I bet the takings are down at the shops.
The police helicopter was hovering over the thing it for more than 30 minutes last night (Friday) and the Strand was closed in both directions until midnight.
Yet there were only 500 people - at most - hanging around in the rain to gawk at the contraption.
A big con. Entertainment orgnised by committee is usually a flop or a waste of money.
Well, I will to say it if no-one else will. The Emperor is NAKED... and the sooner the itzy bitzy boring spider is washed down the Mersey plughole the better.
The cash could have been better spent. I would have liked to see a new Mersey Ferry commissioned for 2008 and £1.8m would have been a good start!
