Although I live on the Wirral and travel to Liverpool most days, I seldom use the Merseyrail underground. I keep irregular hours, and I live a good way from the nearest station.
However, my car was off the road after being stolen (but that's another story) so I travelled from Hamilton Square and changed at Central today to get to Brunswick.
Now whether this is a Capital of Culture development I am not sure... but I was impressed to see a member of staff at Central station equipped with a wide mop-pad and a bucket of water cleaning down the wall panels at the top of an escalator.
I looked around and noticed that ALL the walls and windows showed signs that they must be regularly cleaned. Wonderful! And another thing that London could learn from Liverpool: don't take passengers for granted and keep the place CLEAN. It makes all the difference.
So, top marks for this to Merseyrail, Merseytravel and their staff!
