Sadly, I'm old enough to remember the last hung parliament and the Lib/Lab Pact. My recollection is that it ended in tears.
This times it is to be a coalition but I have to confess that I think it is going to be a very uneasy alliance between the Tories and the Lib/Dems.
I still think the Lib/Dems are to the left of Labour on a lot of national policies, so it is going to be an interesting spectacle to watch them trying to get along in this shotgun wedding.
Perhaps Labour over-played their hand - if so, it is Mandleson will bear the blame.
Will the Lib/Dems pay for their taste of power at the next General Election? Maybe. They could be decimated, or they could be boosted above Labour in the popolar vote.
We are in uncharted territory and it will depend on their record in the Coalition government.
Clegg gets the Deputy Prime Minister's job and perhaps John Prescott's old country pile Dorneywood goes with the post.
If nothing else it will mean that Clegg improves his croquet game!
